So it’s the second weekend of Dry July. How are you holding up?

This is around the time things can start to wobble a little. The first weekend often comes with a burst of novelty and motivation. You’re feeling proud, maybe even a bit excited to see how it goes. But by week two, the sparkle can fade. The social invites start rolling in, the work stress starts to creep back in, and suddenly that little voice in your head is whispering, “Just one won’t hurt.”

If that’s where you’re at, you’re not alone.

This is your reminder to come back to your why. Why did you sign up for Dry July in the first place? What made you commit to this? Was it to sleep better? To reset your habits? To save a bit of money? Or maybe just to prove to yourself that you could?

And if you’re doing Dry July to raise funds for a cause close to your heart, thank you. You’re doing something incredible for others, while also showing up for yourself. Let that fuel you when things feel hard.

Whatever your reason, hold onto it. Write it down again if you need to. Stick it somewhere visible or pop it in your phone notes. Because when a craving kicks in, it’s not about having superhuman willpower. It’s about remembering what matters to you and why you started in the first place.

And remember, the magic is in the momentum. One alcohol-free weekend leads to another, and suddenly you’ve built a new rhythm. Each little win adds up to something powerful. You’re building trust with yourself.

If you’ve already had a drink, that’s okay. This isn’t all-or-nothing. One night doesn’t undo everything. You just pick back up where you left off. No guilt. Just respect for yourself and a quiet decision to keep going.

So here’s your weekend pep talk. Take it one night at a time. Make a plan. Stock the fridge with your favourite alcohol-free drinks. Say no to anything that doesn’t feel aligned right now. Say yes to rest. Say yes to you.
