This week, Ange (our Founder) woke up to a Google Alert and saw Mind The Sip featured in the New York Post!

A few weeks earlier, a journalist from news.com.au had reached out to her to chat about “dawn culture” in Australia and how people’s relationship with alcohol is shifting. The conversation covered mindful drinking, sober curiosity, and the growing number of alcohol-free social spaces.

That same conversation has now been picked up internationally.

Here’s what she had to say:

“Events like morning raves or alcohol-free gatherings create space where alcohol isn’t the focus, so people can show up fully as themselves without needing to explain or justify their choice.”

The article focuses on the shift away from late nights centred around alcohol and towards early morning events built around music, movement and connection.

She went on to say, “People are already making more intentional health choices by moving their bodies, fueling themselves better and prioritizing sleep.”

This is starting to show up in how people choose to socialise.
“It’s no surprise that these kinds of daytime events are taking off, coinciding with the rise of social media trends such as ‘my five to nine before my nine to five.’”

More people are questioning their habits and becoming more intentional about when and why they drink.

She added, “Reducing alcohol is often just an extension of that. Morning raves and dawn culture fit neatly into this shift, offering fun that many people previously associated with alcohol, along with genuine connection, while supporting how people want to feel throughout the day. It’s less about giving something up and more about choosing experiences that support their goals.”

It’s a simple shift, but an important one. Alcohol is no longer the default in every social setting, and more options are starting to open up.
